Patient Newsletter Nov 23 Posted or Updated on 20 Feb 2024

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of developments at Adlington and Croston Medical Centres, Buckshaw Surgery, our Eaves Lane, Chorley site and our surgery sites at Lostock Hall. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Covid Booster and Annual Flu Injections Update

We are pleased to advise that our vaccination hub on Wigan Road, Euxton PR7 6JW will reopen next Wednesday, November 29 for the dispensing of Covid booster jabs.

The hub will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays only from this date up to Thursday, December 21 with the usual opening hours.

Walk-ins will be accepted at all times but if you wish to book a time you may do so via the online National Booking System.

The hub will not be dispensing annual flu jabs and if you require this jab, please visit a local community pharmacy.

Please note these pharmacies are offering the annual flu jab free of charge to those in eligible categories ie with certain long term conditions, carers, over 65s and health care workers.

Opening Hours

Our opening hours changed some months ago but we are still finding instances of patients arriving when our doors are closed. This is often due to them reading outdated information on other websites and internet sources which are out of our control.

All such details and many other areas of information are displayed on our own website at www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk and we would politely request all patients consult this website, which has recently been fully upgraded, as their primary source of information.

For your convenience, please find below details of opening times at all our surgeries.

Monday to Friday

Doors open 8.30am. Closed for lunch 1.00pm to 2.00pm. Doors close 6.00pm.

Phone lines open 8.00am to 6.30pm.

Saturdays: Pre-booked appointments at our Buckshaw site only. All other sites closed and all phone lines closed.

Sunday: All sites and phones lines closed. Call 111 or in event of medical emergency call 999.

NHS Cervical Screening Programme

The NHS have urged women to accept cervical screening invites after new figures showed three in 10 of those receiving invitations don’t take up the potentially life-saving offer.

Eligible patients may call any of our surgeries to arrange a screening, which involves a 20 minute appointment with a practice nurse.

More information on NHS cervical screening, eligibility and how to book an appointment is available at www.nhs.uk/conditions/cervical-screening.

Ukraine and Homeless Appeals

The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group’s ‘Christmas Shoebox Appeal’ closes next Wednesday, November 30.

Up to that date, you can drop off a shoebox parcel for a baby, child, teenager, man, woman or soldier at any of our surgeries during opening hours.

The Chorley Homeless Group are also still urgently in need of sleeping bags, and we are continuing to accept donation of toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, non-perishable foods, tins of pet food and clean clothing for both appeals.

Please mark your bags if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
