Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock
Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Cervical Screening
The NHS has this week rolled out a new ‘ping and book’ system of digital invitations and reminders for cervical screening via the NHS App which it is hoped will boost uptake and help save thousands of lives.
Eligible women will first receive a notification through the app to alert them to book a screening appointment, followed by a text message if the notification isn’t opened.
Letters will remain in place for those who need them.
The NHS has also announced that thanks to more accurate human papillomavirus (HPV) testing, women aged 25 to 49 who test negative for HPV will now safely be invited for screening at five year intervals rather than three.
Those whose sample indicates the presence of HPV or who have a recent history of HPV, which causes nearly all cervical cancers, will continue to be invited to more frequent screenings.
Women aged 50 to 64 are already on the five year cycle.
Former Medicare Surgery
Many of you will be aware that the former Medicare Surgery on Croston Road, Lostock Hall closed down some time ago with all patients being transferred to The Village Surgery which is close by.
We can advise that sale of the building has now been completed and the new owners will shortly be taking possession of the building.
Patients attending appointments at The Village Surgery will unfortunately therefore no longer be able to use the old Medicare car park.
Temporary Surgery Closure – Thank You
Thank you at all our patients for their patience and understanding when our surgeries and phone lines were closed on Tuesday afternoon for staff training.
This was essential NHS training and we hope it will help us in our aim of offering the best service possible at all times.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
We have delivered the latest batch of donation to The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group and The Chorley Homeless Group and both groups have asked us to pass on your thanks for your continued support which is gratefully received.
We are continuing to accept donations of items such as sanitary products, toiletries, shoes, clean duvets, towels and non-perishable food items.
You can drop them off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.
Please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
