Weekly Patient Newsletter - Thursday, June 30 Posted or Updated on 2 Feb 2023

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Our Social Prescriber

We have our very own social prescriber Cheryl Davies who while based at The Village Surgery at Lostock Hall covers patients across all our sites.

Many patients attend the surgery with issues around social determinants that the GP cannot deal with, and Cheryl can work with these patients and also work to improve the health and wellbeing of those with long term health conditions, the vulnerable and those who have conditions meaning they often attend out of hours services and A&E.

She can make referrals to other services, including foodbanks, counselling, pain management groups and fitness, and can also assist with other issues such as difficult forms to complete.

Cheryl’s background is in mental health and she is a qualified person-centred counsellor.

If you are interested in a consultation with Cheryl, you do not need to see a GP first and you can contact her directly at cheryl.davies6@nhs.net with any inquiries.

Open Day

Many thanks to all our patients and visitors who attended the Open Day at Croston Medical Centre last Saturday.

It was lovely to see you all and we hope you enjoyed your visit and your chance to have a look ‘behind the scenes.’

We hope to organise a similar event at some time in the future for those of you who were unable to attend on the day and we also have plans to organise open days at our other surgeries. Please keep an eye on this newsletter and our website and social media platforms for more details being announced.

Holiday Vaccinations

With the peak of the holiday season approaching, we would like to remind patients requiring travel vaccination appointments that they need to complete the appropriate form on our website at www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk.

You can find it by clicking the section marked ‘Travel Vaccination Form’ on the left of the site’s home page. Once completed, please click the ‘submit’ button and the form will come through to our staff at your chosen surgery.

Alternatively, you can pick up a copy from any of our surgeries and drop off at reception.

When received, one of our nurses will check the form and get back to you to advise if vaccinations are needed and if so, which ones, and will make an appointment for you.

Please note the form must be received at least six weeks before the date of travel.

Staff Vacancy – Last Chance to Apply

We are currently accepting applications for a receptionist/comms team member to be based at Croston Medical Centre.

Hours are 26.25 per week with some flexibility to suit the right candidate.

To apply, send a CV & covering letter to our surgery at Croston or by emailing beverleybarton@nhs.net but please hurry as the closing date is tomorrow, Friday, July 1.
