Weekly Patient Newsletter - Thursday, December 23 Posted or Updated on 15 Feb 2022

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Covid Vaccination Programme Update

Our Covid vaccination programme is now continuing as quickly as possible in line with new Government directives.

Full details are given below but if you have any queries, please call the designated 119 Covid line or visit the NHS website.

Please do not call our surgeries unless you are housebound and require any of the jabs, in which case please call your own surgery to request a home visit.

Booster vaccinations are now available to anyone aged 18 and over, but please note in all cases your second dose must have been at least three months ago.

Those aged 16+ with a range of health conditions specified by NHS England are also eligible subject to the three month gap since their second dose.

In addition, those aged 12-18 are eligible for second doses but there must be a 12 week gap since their first dose. However, if in an at risk group, they will be eligible after eight weeks. Appointments for these categories are bookable now.

We are also continuing to offer first doses to anyone aged 12 years or over.

Please note in all cases, anyone aged 18 or over who has had Covid must wait 28 days since initial diagnosis before having any jab, and those aged under 18 must wait 12 weeks since diagnosis.

All vaccinations are taking place at Jubilee House, Centurion Way, Leyland PR26 6TR and normal opening hours are: 8am-7.40pm Wednesday to Saturday, closed for lunch 1-2pm. You can attend as a walk-in or make an appointment via the NHS app.

Outside these times, normal procedures apply ie call 111 for all issues except for emergencies, in which case you should call 999.

Staff Absences

As is the case with many other workplaces, we have been badly hit by the latest wave of Covid in terms of staff absences due both to confirmed cases among staff and also compulsory self-isolation.

If clinicians are affected, we are making every effort to switch appointments to clinicians who are still working, but there may be occasions where appointments are postponed, for which we apologise.

We are also doing our best to redeploy non-clinical staff around our surgeries to provide cover wherever possible. We thank you for your patience on these issues.

Pharmacies - Christmas Day Opening

Christmas Day opening times for pharmacies in our area are: 10am-1pm - The Hub Pharmacy, Peel St, Chorley. 2pm-9pmn: Leyland Late Night Pharmacy, Hough Lane.
