Patient Newsletter June 13 Posted or Updated on 13 Jun 2024

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients are kept fully informed of developments at NM Health Innovations. We hope these regular updates continue to prove useful.

Thank You For Your Understanding

We would like to thank all our patients for their understanding when our surgeries were temporarily closed last Tuesday afternoon for essential staff training.

This is mandatory training which is delivered nationally across the NHS and is intended to improve all aspects of our service.

We always keep any alteration to normal surgery hours to an absolute minimum and we hope you did not experience any inconvenience.

Covid Spring Booster Vaccinations

Please note the 2024 Covid Spring Booster vaccination programme will be coming to an end on June 30.

Up to this date, Buckshaw Pharmacy have advised that they are continuing to offer the jab and have advised any eligible patients wanting the vaccination to book online through the NHS website to get an allocated time slot at the pharmacy.

Jabs are also being administered at Ryan Medical Centre in Bamber Bridge.

We are not offering this vaccination at any of our surgeries.

Eligible patients are those aged 75 or over and those with an immune-supressed condition, or those who are residents in a care home for older adults.

We have not had any notification from NHS England about an Autumn booster programme but we will advise if and when we receive any information.

Holiday Vaccinations

Peak holiday season is almost here and if you’re going abroad and think you may require vaccinations, please act now as you must submit a request form at least eight weeks in advance of your departure date to allow us to make appropriate arrangements.

You can access the form on our website at www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk

Just click the tab marked ‘Services’ on the bar at the top of the home page, then choose ‘Clinics and Services’ and scroll to the bottom of the list where you then click on ‘Travel Vaccination and Travel Advice.’ Please then complete the form and click ‘submit.’

If you’ve no internet access, pick up a form your surgery and drop off at reception.

When the form is received, one of our nurses will get back to you to advise if vaccinations are needed and if so, which ones, and will make an appointment for you.

Type 2 Diabetes

New figures show more than half a million people in England have been identified by the NHS as being at risk of developing type 2 diabetes in a year.

Identifying more people means that the NHS can provide an earlier diagnosis and support to prevent progression of the condition.

Symptoms include tiredness, feeling thirsty, urinating more often than usual and unexplained weight loss.

If you think you may have these symptoms, call your surgery and make a GP appointment.
