Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
No Smoking Day
We were pleased to take part in National No Smoking Day this week and we are continuing to support any patient wanting to give up the habit.
Quitting smoking can see immediate improvement to your health and om average, you could save around £2,500 per year by quitting smoking.
NHS Better Health offers a range of free quitting support including the NHS Quit Smoking app, Personal Quit Plan and advice on stop smoking aids including information on vaping.
Search NHS Quit Smoking or call at any of our surgeries for more information.
Roadworks
There are currently various sets of roadworks in the vicinity of more than one of our surgeries which are causing short delays for patients arriving by car for appointments.
Please allow a little more travelling time when you are planning to attend as late arrivals can have a cumulative effect and push back later appointments.
Thank you for your understanding.
Holiday Vaccinations
With the holiday season approaching, we are expecting to receive a large number of requests for travel vaccinations in the coming weeks so if you think you may require these, now’s the time to look at arranging them.
To do so, download a request form from our website, which you can access by clicking on the ‘Online Services’ tab then the ‘Who to See’ link under the ‘Book Appointments’ section and then scrolling down to the ‘Travel Vaccinations’ link.
After completing it, click the ‘submit’ button and the form will go to your chosen site.
Once received, one of our nurses will then check it and get back to you to advise if vaccinations are needed and if so, which ones, and will make an appointment for you.
Alternatively, you can call at any of our surgeries to pick up a hard copy, and you can then drop off the completed form at the reception desk at your own surgery.
Please note it is advisable to submit your form at least eight weeks before the date of travel to allow time for processing and appointments to be made.
If you submit your request at a late stage, we may not be able to arrange your appointment in time and you’d need to use at private clinic where you’ll be charged.
Breast Screening
The current NHS ‘Help Us, Help You’ campaign, which we are supporting, encourages women to attend their breast screening appointment when invited.
Breast cancer screening saves around 1,300 lives each year in the UK.
You'll automatically get your first invitation letter for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53 so when you receive it, save the date. It could save your life.
Please contact your own surgery if you need any more information.
