Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Temporary Surgery Closure
We would request all patients note that essential training which is being delivered to NHS staff nationwide is taking place this Tuesday, March 4.
On this date all our surgery sites will close at 12.30pm and phone lines will also close from this time.
During this period, please call 111 or if the issue is an emergency please call 999.
Our normal enhanced service will operate from 6.30pm that day and phone lines at all our sites reopen at 8am the following day, Wednesday, March 5, with doors open 8.30am as normal.
We thank you in anticipation of your understanding.
Breast Screening – An Important Message
We are participating in the ‘Help Us, Help You’ campaign which aims to encourage women to attend their breast screening appointment when invited.
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women in England and regular breast screening is one of the best ways to spot a cancer that is too small to feel or see yourself – it saves around 1,300 lives each year in the UK.
Anyone registered with a GP as female aged from 50 up to their 71st birthday will be invited for NHS breast screening every three years.
You'll automatically get your first invitation letter for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53 so when you receive it, save the date. It could save your life.
To find out more, search ‘NHS breast screening’ if you have internet access or alternatively, ask our surgery reception team who will be happy to provide more information.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
This week marked the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group are appealing once more for desperately needed donations of items.
We are also accepting donations for the Chorley Homeless Group, so if you have any toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets, towels, coats and sleeping bags, you can them drop off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.
Please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
A Day Late!
Apologies but due to logistical reasons, the newsletter has been published a day later than the usual Thursday publication time. Back to normal next week.
