Weekly Patient Newsletter - Thursday, April 21 Posted or Updated on 2 Feb 2023

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Ukraine Appeal

Once again, thank you for all our donations which have been dropped off at the Chorley & District Support for Ukraine group’s depot and have either been delivered to the refugee centres or are on their way to Eastern Europe.

We can now announce that the group have advised that clothing is now being accepted.

You can now drop off any items of clothing, which must be clean and in reasonable condition, at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.

Our staff will be on hand to assist you if needed.

We are also continuing to accept toiletries, ladies' sanitary products, baby items, non-perishable foods and tins of dog and cat food as well as clothing.

We would remind you that the situation remains very serious and after renewed Russian attacks, thousands more refugees have arrived at the centres and are in desperate need so nay donations would be gratefully accepted.

Thank you so much in anticipation of your help.

Covid Vaccinations

We are continuing to accept 5 to 11-year-olds for their first Covid jab at our vaccination hub Jubilee House, Centurion Way, Leyland PR26 6TR.

Opening hours are as normal ie 8am-7.40pm Wed to Sat, closed for lunch 1-2pm. Parking is free and there are plenty of space, but please note there are roadworks on Centurion Way, which is the main access road to the site, so please allow for slight delays.

We are also accepting over 75s and immunosuppressed patients for their fourth (second booster) jab, but it must be at least three months since your third Covid jab.

The latter category must provide a letter from their clinician confirming their eligibility.

We are continuing to offer first & second dose jabs to anyone aged 12+ and third doses for anyone aged 16+. There must be a 12 week gap between doses, vulnerable groups 8 weeks.

Anyone aged 18+ who has had Covid must wait 28 days since initial diagnosis before having any jab, and those under 18 must wait 12 weeks from diagnosis.

Bank Holiday Opening Times

Please note that all our surgery sites will be closed on Monday, May 2 due to the Spring Bank Holiday.

Please call 999 in the event of an emergency or 111 in the case of non-emergency calls on this day.

Our surgery sites will also be closed from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5 inclusive due the Bank Holiday’s marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Blood Clinics

We now have blood clinics operating every Tuesday morning at Adlington Medical Centre, Croston Medical Centre and The Village Surgery at Lostock Hall and at Buckshaw Village Surgery every Thursday & Friday morning.

However, please note these are not walk-in clinics and all appointments should be made in advance and at the surgery where you are registered as a patient.
