Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Norovirus
You may have seen media reports of some hospitals in the North West restricting visiting hours due to norovirus outbreaks.
We are not aware of any such restrictions in this area so please do not panic, and please also be assured that while case of norovirus, or winter vomiting bug as it is also known, are high in the area, they are in line with expected rates at this time of year.
If you have symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, a high temperature, abdominal pain and aching limbs, rest up and drink plenty of fluids.
Avoid visiting hospitals and care homes to prevent passing on the infection, and don’t return to work, school or nursery until 48 hours after your symptoms have stopped.
If you experience persistent, severe symptoms, or if you have other health issues, please make a GP appointment.
Ukraine Appeal Donations
Thank you for your continued donations to The Chorley Support for Ukraine group who have asked us to pass on their appreciation.
If you have any warm clothing, toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets and towels you wish to donate, please drop the items off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.
We will deliver the items to the depot.
Holiday Vaccinations
If you’re booking a trip abroad this summer which may require vaccinations, please note you must submit your application form at least eight weeks before you travel to allow time for processing and appointments, and this can be longer in peak season.
To avoid these issues which might result in having to use a private clinic where you’ll be charged, download a request form from us.
Go to our website at https://www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk/ and click on the ‘Online Services’ tab then the ‘Who to See’ link under the ‘Book Appointments’ section, then scroll down to the ‘Travel Vaccinations’ link and complete the form.
Click the ‘submit’ button and the form will go to your chosen site, and our nurses will then check if vaccinations are needed and if so, they’ll make an appointment for you.
Alternatively, if you don’t have internet access, you can call at your own surgery to pick up a hard copy and you can drop off the completed form at our reception desk.
