Weekly Patient Newsletter - Thursday, April 14 Posted or Updated on 2 Feb 2023

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all our patients are kept fully informed of all developments at Buckshaw Village Surgery, Croston and Adlington Medical Centres, our sites at Lostock Hall and on matters affecting former Eaves Lane Surgery patients. We hope these regular updates will continue to prove useful.

Ukraine Appeal

We have been delighted with the response by our patients and staff to our appeal so far.

All the items you have dropped off have been gratefully received by the Chorley & District Support for Ukraine group and have either been delivered to the refugee centres or are on their way to Eastern Europe.

However, the bad news is that situation remains very serious and after renewed Russian attacks, thousands more refugees have arrived at the centres and are in desperate need.

We would like to therefore renew our appeal for toiletries, ladies' sanitary products, baby items, non-perishable foods and tins of dog and cat food.

You can drop items off at any of our surgery sites at any time during opening hours. Our staff will be on hand to assist you if needed.

Thank you so much in anticipation of your help. You have been fantastic so far.

Covid Vaccinations

We are now accepting 5 to 11-year-olds for their first Covid jab at our vaccination hub Jubilee House, Centurion Way, Leyland PR26 6TR.

Opening hours are as normal ie 8am-7.40pm Wed to Sat, closed for lunch 1-2pm. Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces. However, please note there are roadworks on Centurion Way, which is the main access road to the site, so please allow for slight delays.

We are also now accepting over 75s for their fourth (second booster) Covid jab, but it must be at least three months since you received your third Covid jab.

Immunosuppressed patients are also eligible for this jab but must provide a letter from their clinician confirming their eligibility.

We are also continuing to offer first and second dose Covid jabs to anyone aged 12 or over and third doses for anyone aged 16 or over. There must be 12 week gap between doses, eight weeks for vulnerable groups.

Anyone aged 18+ who has had Covid must wait 28 days since initial diagnosis before having any jab, and those under 18 must wait 12 weeks from diagnosis.

Face Coverings

Unfortunately, despite the success of the vaccination programme, the pandemic is very much still around.

Covid infections remain very high across the area and indeed nationally, and we would therefore request that patients and any other visitors to any of our surgeries continue to wear face coverings and where possible to observe social distancing rules.

We thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.

Appeal for vaccinators

We are still looking for qualified medical staff to join the team at our Covid vaccination centre at Jubilee House, Leyland. Experience preferred but any training is available for suitably qualified staff. Hours are flexible and can be discussed.

To apply, please email your contact details to CSRCCG.buckshawadmin@nhs.net and mark your inquiry for the attention of Tracy or Sandra.
