Patient Newsletter April 4 Posted or Updated on 4 Apr 2024

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of developments and news which may be of interest to you. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.

Buckshaw Surgery Car Park

Essential maintenance work is about to take place on the roof of Buckshaw Surgery which will involve a crane being positioned in the surgery car park.

This will mean the row of spaces alongside the building will be unavailable for two weeks from tomorrow, Friday, April 5 so please allow additional time before appointments for parking during this time as spaces will obviously be restricted.

We will advise as soon as the work is completed or if there is any change in the situation.

Holiday Vaccinations

As the holiday season approaches, we would like to remind patients requiring travel vaccination appointments that they need to complete the appropriate form on our website at www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk.

You can find it by clicking the tab marked ‘Services’ on the bar at the top of the home page, then choose ‘Clinics and Services’ and scroll to the bottom of the list where you then click on ‘Travel Vaccination and Travel Advice.’

You can then complete the online form and click the ‘submit’ button and the form will then come through to our staff at your chosen surgery.

If you have no internet access, pick up a copy from your surgery and drop off at reception.

When the form is received, one of our nurses will check it and get back to you to advise if vaccinations are needed and if so, which ones, and will make an appointment for you.

Please note the form must be received at least six weeks before the date of travel so make sure you submit your form early enough to allow time for vaccinations to be booked.

Temporary Surgery Closure Next Week

Essential training which is being delivered to NHS staff nationwide is taking place next Tuesday afternoon, April 9.

Please note on this date all our surgery sites will close at 12.30pm and all phone lines will also be closed from this time.

During this period, please call 111 or if the issue is an emergency please call 999.

Our normal enhanced service will operate from 6.30pm that day and phone lines at all our sites reopen at 8am the following day, Wednesday, April 10, with doors open 8.30am.

MMR vaccination programme

Cases of measles are continuing to be recorded across England and in the North West and the danger of the outbreak spreading remains a worry.

Having two doses of the MMR vaccine is the best way to protect your child, and the vaccine is safe and is free on the NHS whatever your age.

You can now contact your GP surgery to book an appointment or alternatively The Broadway Pharmacy, Market Walk, Chorley, PR7 1DE is now offering the MMR vaccine to children aged from 5 to 11 who are overdue a vaccination.

The facility is accepting walk-ins only and you do not need to make an appointment.

For more information, visit: Measles - NHS (www.nhs.uk) or call in at our surgery.
