Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Annual Flu Jab and RSV Vaccination Clinics
We are pleased to report there has been a very good take up rate from our patients for the annual adult flu and RSV vaccination clinics we are currently operating.
Flu rates have fallen slightly but remain high and you are strongly advised to take advantage of these free clinics.
The next of these clinics will take place this Saturday, February 1 from 8.30am-10.30am at Buckshaw Village Surgery.
Please note these clinics are for our own patients only but they are open to patients registered at any of our surgeries and not just Buckshaw patients.
You can call your surgery to book a slot but we are also taking walk-in patients for the first hour of the clinic if you prefer to do this.
Any patient over the age of 16 may attend for the annual flu jab but only patients aged 75-80 or who are 28 weeks pregnant or over are eligible for the RSV vaccination.
Please also note you cannot have both vaccinations at the same time.
Temporary Surgery Closure
Please note that essential training which is being delivered to NHS staff nationwide is taking place a week on Tuesday, February 11 and on this date all our surgery sites will close at 12.30pm and phone lines will also close from this time.
During this period, please call 111 or if the issue is an emergency please call 999.
Our normal enhanced service will operate from 6.30pm that day and phone lines at all our sites reopen at 8am the following day, Wednesday, February 12, with doors open 8.30am as normal.
We thank you in anticipation of your understanding.
World Cancer Day
Next Tuesday, February 4 is World Cancer Day.
The organisers’ message is that every experience with cancer is unique and we should unite to create a world where we look beyond the disease and see the person before the patient.
They have asked that everyone comes together to rewrite the future of cancer care - one where the needs of people and communities come first.

NHS Health Checks
We are continuing to offer free NHS health checks for any patients over 40 registered at all sites across the group and would strongly recommend you take up this offer.
You will need to have a blood test before the appointment so if you wish to proceed, please call your surgery and our reception team will be pleased to book you in for the blood test and a follow up appointment for your health check with the practice nurse.
