Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news and developments. We hope these regular updates continue to prove useful.
NHS Health Checks
The above is a free check-up of your overall health and can tell you whether you're at higher risk of getting certain health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease or strokes.
If you’re aged 40 to 74 and do not have a pre-existing health condition, you should be invited to an NHS Health Check by your GP every five years.
Your NHS Health Check will be done by a healthcare professional and takes about 20 to 30 minutes. It usually includes measuring your height, weight and waist and blood pressure and cholesterol tests.
You’ll also be asked some questions about your health including whether any of your close relatives have had any medical conditions, if you smoke or drink alcohol and if so, how much, and how much physical activity you do.
You'll normally be told your NHS Health Check results during the appointment.
If you think you are eligible but have not been invited, contact your GP surgery.
Temporary Surgery Closure
We would like to advise patients that essential training which is being delivered to NHS staff nationwide is taking place next Tuesday, August 20.
Please note on this date all our surgery sites will close at 12.30pm and all phone lines will also be closed from this time.
During this period, please call 111 or if the issue is an emergency please call 999.
Our normal enhanced service will operate from 6.30pm and phone lines at all our sites reopen at 8am the following day, Wednesday, August 21, doors open 8.30am.
We thank you in anticipation of your understanding.
Covid Issues
Unfortunately, the rate of Covid infection remains high in the area.
We are continuing with our full service at all our surgery sites and appointments are unaffected, but our advice remains that while face coverings are not at present compulsory, you should use one in public places such as our surgeries if you are concerned, and it is recommended you wear a mask if you are immuno-compromised.
If you or your child have tested positive, stay at home as much as possible and avoid contact with other people for five days after the day the test was taken, or three days if you are under 18.
If you have need more advice, please call the national Covid helpline on 119.
