Patient Newsletter March 5 Posted or Updated on 5 Mar 2026

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.

Temporary Surgery Closure – Thank You

Thank you to all our patients for their patience and understanding when our surgeries and phone lines were closed on Tuesday afternoon for staff training.

This was essential NHS training and we hope it will help us in our aim of offering you our patients the best service possible at all times.

Holiday Vaccinations

The holiday season is fast approaching and if you’re booking a trip abroad which may require vaccinations, please start planning now.

You should be aware that you must submit your application form at least eight weeks before you travel to allow time for processing and appointments and this can be longer in peak season.

To avoid these issues which might result in having to use a private clinic where you’ll be charged, download a request form at https://www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk/.

When you visit the site, click the ‘Online Services’ tab then the ‘Who to See’ link under the ‘Book Appointments’ section then scroll down to ‘Travel Vaccinations.’

After completing the form, click the ‘submit’ button and the form will go to your chosen site where our nurses will then check it to see if vaccinations are needed.

If so, they will make an appointment for you.

Alternatively, if you don’t have internet access, you can call at your own surgery to pick up a hard copy and you can drop off the completed form at our reception desk.

World Glaucoma Week

We are supporting World Glaucoma Week which runs from March 8-14.

Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness and is an eye condition where the main nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, becomes damaged.

It's most common in adults aged 50 and over and can cause vision loss if it's not diagnosed and treated early.

For more information, click here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/glaucoma/ and make a GP appointment if you have any symptoms.

National No Smoking Day

Next Wednesday. March 11 is National No Smoking Day are we are backing this event.

Every cigarette takes around 20 minutes off your life and if you quit, you will have immediate benefits both healthwise and financially.

The power to quit is in your hands and you can do so via the NHS Personal Quit Plan.

Click on this link for more details and for extra information and support.
