Patient Newsletter Jan 22 Posted or Updated on 22 Jan 2026

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.

NHS Pharmacy First Service

The NHS Pharmacy First Service runs alongside our own range of clinical services and is a great way to receive fast, efficient treatment for a wide range of common complaints.

These include UTIs, shingles, impetigo, infected insect bites and acute sinusitis, sore throats and earache.

If you have such a complaint, call our surgery and our reception team will make the referral.

You will then be contacted by your local pharmacy who will arrange for you to visit, where you will receive advice, information and if required prescription antibiotics as well as other over the counter medication if this is suitable.

The move is intended to free up GP & other Clinician appointments as patients can be dealt with quickly and easily by pharmacies instead of making surgery appointments.

The majority of local pharmacies are signed up to the service so you should be able to find one convenient to where you live.

Please contact any of our surgeries if you require any further information.

NHS Health Checks

We are continuing to offer free NHS health checks for any patients over 40 registered at all sites across the group and would strongly recommend you take up this offer.

You will need to have a blood test before the appointment so if you wish to proceed, please call your surgery and our reception team will be pleased to book you in for the blood test and a follow up appointment for your health check with the practice nurse.

The Haven Central Lancashire

The Haven is a welcoming and non-judgemental place for individuals struggling socially and emotionally with life challenges or who are in crisis.

This is a service open to any of our patients seeking emotional support and advice.

No referral is required and you can visit at The Haven, Blanche Street, Preston PR2 2RL, call on 0330 0083672 or email centrallancashirehaven@richmondfellowship.org.uk

Parking at Lostock Hall

A reminder that patients attending The Village Surgery, Lostock Hall should not use the car park at the former Medicare Surgery when attending appointments.

The new owners now operate a camera system monitoring the building’s car park and action will be taken against anyone parking without permission.

Free parking for up to one hour is available on the main car park opposite the surgery provided you obtain a time of arrival ticket from the machine on site.
