Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Changes to the Appointments System
The process for booking appointments at your GP practice is going to change in the next few weeks.
Please note this change has been introduced by the NHS and the Government, not by our GP practice.
The new system comes into effect on October 1 and to make sure you’re ready, download the NHS App today — it's the easiest way to manage appointments, prescriptions and more.
You can download the app via this link www.nhs.uk/nhs-app.
If you do not have internet access, please call at the surgery and our reception staff will offer advice on how the new system will work for you.
Ticks and Lyme Disease
The weather is still very warm and in these conditions, there is a heightened danger of tick bites, which can lead to infections such as Lyme disease or encephalitis.
You can reduce the chances of tick bites by walking only on clearly defined paths, using tick repellent and performing regular tick infections.

Mounjaro and Oral HRT
You may have seen media reports advising that the price of the Mounjaro/tirzepatide medication has risen significantly.
We would confirm that the medication is still not available locally on prescription except for those patients who qualify based on strict eligibility criteria so please do not make GP appointments to try to arrange Mounjaro on prescription.
For more information on the eligibility criteria and other background information on Mounjaro, please see the article in the news section of our website at www.nmhealthinnovations.co.uk where you can also find details of concerns over the effects of Mounjaro on oral HRT treatment.
We will advise via this newsletter, our website and social media channels as soon as there are any updates on availability criteria.
New School Term
We would like to wish good luck to all our younger patients who are about to start a new school or college year.
If you have any health worries about your child as they embark on the next stage of their education, we have GP appointments from early in the day to evening so you will hopefully be able to find an appointment time which is convenient and can fit around school commitments.
