Patient Newsletter Jan 30 Posted or Updated on 30 Jan 2026

Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.

Demand for Appointments

As is usually the case at this time of year, we are like many other GP surgeries experiencing high levels of demand for appointments.

We would assure patients that we are making every effort to maintain our level of service by providing as many appointments as possible and ensuring all patients are dealt with as quickly as possible.

In order for us to continue to do this, please ensure your appointment is necessary before making it and let us know if you are unable to attend the appointment in order that we can reallocate to another patient.

Please be aware you can use the NHS 111 service which is an easy and convenient way to get urgent help for a wide range of health issues.

You can access this service by calling 111, going online or using the NHS App.

Alternatively, take advantage of the Pharmacy First scheme, whereby you can call in at your local community pharmacy who can now supply prescription-only treatment for a range of conditions including sinusitis, sore throats and earache.

Temporary Surgery Closure

This is a heads up for patients to note that essential training which is being delivered to NHS staff nationwide is taking place on Tuesday, February 10.

On this date all our surgery sites will close at 12.30pm and all phone lines will also be closed from this time.

With the exception of pre-booked evening appointments with our enhanced service, there are no pre-booked appointments on that afternoon.

All surgeries will reopen as normal the following day, Wednesday, February 11, with phone lines open at 8am and doors open at the usual time of 8.30am.

Homeless and Ukraine Appeals

The winter conditions in Ukraine are very harsh at present and The Chorley Support for Ukraine group would be really grateful if you can donate warm clothing and also any toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets and towels.

Drop off your donations at any of our surgery sites during opening hours and let our staff know, and we will deliver the items to the depot.

Please note the Chorley Homeless Group are not currently accepting donations so any items received will be allocated to the Ukraine appeal.

A Day Late!

Apologies but due to logistical reasons, the newsletter has been published a day later than the usual Thursday publication time. Back to normal next week.
