Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news and developments relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
NHS Pharmacy First Service
The NHS Pharmacy First Service now deals with a wide range of common complaints
including UTIs, shingles, impetigo, infected insect bites and acute sinusitis, sore throats and otitis media (earache).
If you have such a complaint, call our surgery and our reception team will make the referral.
You will then be contacted by your local pharmacy who will arrange for you to visit, where you will receive advice, information and if required antibiotics as well as other over the counter medication if this is suitable.
The system is intended to free up GP and other Clinician appointments as patients can be dealt with quickly and easily by pharmacies instead of making surgery appointments.
Please contact any of our surgeries if you require any further information.
NHS Health Checks
We are continuing to offer free NHS health checks for any patients over 40 registered at all sites across the group.
We would urge you to book one of these checks, particularly if you have not seen a GP or other Clinician for some time as it may be that it will pick up an undetected issue for which early treatment would be beneficial.
You will need to have a blood test before the appointment so if you wish to proceed, please call your surgery and our reception team will be pleased to book you in for the blood test and a follow up appointment for your health check with the practice nurse.
RSV and Flu Vaccinations
We have been very pleased with take up for the clinics we are hosting for both RSV and annual flu vaccinations so far.
The RSV vaccine is being offered to pregnant women and adults aged 75-79.
In respect of the annual flu jabs, eligible categories are the over 65s and those under 65 who are in one of these categories: Pregnant, Carers, Frontline workers, Immunocompromised or a household contact of such a person, or if you suffer from one of the following chronic diseases - Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, Chronic Heart Disease, Vascular Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease, Chronic Liver Disease.
We will shortly be arranging more clinics and we will advise as soon as details of these clinics are confirmed.
The Budget
You may have seen in national media coverage that the Government has announced in this week’s Budget funding to support the delivery of an extra two million NHS operations, scans and appointments a year.
We hope details will be formalised and the funding rolled out as quickly as possible and we will advise on any changes to our service and appointments as soon as we know more details.
