Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Winter Weather and Access Issues
There are forecasts of severe winter weather over the next few days.
We would advise all patients to keep warm and safe at this time and to allow extra time to make it to appointments on days when snow and ice affect driving conditions.
As always, we take every step to ensure all surfaces are safe around our surgery sites but would urge patients to take care at all times.
If there are any particular issues around our surgeries such as areas where conditions are particularly treacherous underfoot, please let our staff know and we will do our best to tackle the issue.
Demand for Appointments
In common with GP practices across the country, we are experiencing high levels of demand for appointments due to rising levels of illness in the wintry conditions.
We would like to assure patients that we are making every effort to maintain our level of service by providing as many appointments as possible and ensuring all patients are dealt with as quickly as possible.
In order to assist us, please ensure your appointment is necessary before making it and please let us know if you are unable to attend your appointment in order that we can reallocate to another patient.
Remember, you can use the NHS 111 service which is an easy and convenient way to get urgent help for a wide range of health issues. Call, go online or use the NHS App.
Altrnatively, you can take advantage of the Pharmacy First scheme, whereby you can cal lin at your local community pharmacy who can now supply prescription only treatment for a raneg of conditions including sore throats, sinusitis and earache.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
Winter is harsh in Eastern Europe and The Chorley Support for Ukraine group would be really grateful if you can donate any toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets and towels.
Drop off your donations at any of our surgery sites during opening hours and let our staff know, and we will deliver the items to the Chorley Support for Ukraine group depot in Chorley ready for transportation to Eastern Europe.
Please note the Chorley Homeless Group are not currently accepting donations so any items received will be allocated to the Ukraine appeal.
The Christmas and New Year Period
We hope all our patients had a nice Christmas and New Year break.
All our opening times are now back to normal until further notice and we look forward to providing as good a service as we possibly can to you all throughout 2026.
