Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall GP surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Norovirus
You may have seen national media reports on a rise in cases of norovirus, often referred to a as the ‘winter vomiting bug.’
While it is true there has been an update in cases, this is normal for the time of year and the numbers of instances of norovirus is within the expected levels for January.
However, levels are still high and if you or a member of your family experience symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea, and possibly also a high temperature,
headache and stomach pain, NHS advice is to stay at home to avoid spreading the virus, get plenty of rest and take paracetamol if you're in discomfort.
You will usually start to feel better in two to three days but speak to a pharmacist if you or your child experience signs of dehydration, you have a weakened immune system or other health conditions.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
The Chorley Support for Ukraine group are still gratefully accepting any donations of toiletries, sanitary products, baby items, pet food, non-perishable food items, shoes, clean duvets, blankets and towels.
Drop off your donations at any of our surgery sites during opening hours and let our staff know, and we will deliver the items to the group’s depot in Chorley.
We would advise that the Chorley Homeless Group are not currently accepting donations so any items received will be allocated to the Ukraine appeal.
Parking at Lostock Hall
All patients attending The Village Surgery, Lostock Hall should note the new owners of the former Medicare Surgery now operate a camera system covering the building’s car park.
Therefore, any cars parking there will be monitored and action taken against anyone parking without permission.
Please therefore do not under any circumstances use this car park when attending appointments at The Village Surgery.
Free parking for up to one hour is available on the main car park opposite the surgery provided you obtain a time of arrival ticket from the machine on site.
