Doctors
Dr N J Muttucumaru
Dr Muttucumaru is the owner and clinical lead for the organisation and qualified as a Doctor in 1985 at The University of Leicester.
He became a GP in 1993 and in 2009 was successful in his bid to provide the primary care needs for the Buckshaw Village development and soon afterwards opened a brand new surgery.
Dr Muttucumaru has a wide range of interests, and is passionate in his desire to offer community based services for patients from the surgery.
He also provides an innovative continuity of care model for patients located within the Oakbridge Retirement Village complex. This model is specifically tailored to meet the needs of dementia patients and long term rehabilitation patients.
Dr Kapil Sharma
Dr Sharma has been a GP since 2008. He started his medical career at St Andrews and Manchester and worked locally in Chorley General Hospital up until 2004.
He then trained as a GP at St Albans/Hemel and Watford.
He moved to Buckshaw to be closer to his extended family.
His areas of medical interest include diabetes and joint injections/musculoskeletal medicine.
Dr Sharma can often be found working Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Croston Medical Centre. He works on the walk in clinic in the morning and offers pre-bookable appointments in the afternoon.
Dr Sharma also usually works from Buckshaw Village on a Tuesday and Thursday offering pre bookable appointments.
Dr Omar Al-Falahi
Dr Al-Falahi is based at Buckshaw Village Surgery on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays,
He graduated from medical school in 2011 and worked in Iraq, Oman and the USA before starting working for the NHS in January 2019.
Dr Al-Falahi's first UK clinical experience was in internal medicine at East Surrey Hospital. His previous clinical experience was mainly in emergency medicine.
He started his GP speciality training in August 2019 in east Lancashire and completed his training in August 2022. He has a particular interest in rheumatology.
Dr Ronald Kato
Dr Kato qualfied from St Andrews and Manchester Medical School in 2008.
He worked in various posts including A&E, paediatrics, psychiatry and obstetrics and also gynaecology. completing his GP training in 2013.
Prior to joining NM Health Innovation, he worked as a GP in Huyton, Whiston and Southport.
He works full time at Croston Medical Centre and has special interests in medical education and women's health.
Dr Kato is also a qualified Medical Examiner.
Dr Mohamad Nadzam
Dr Nadzam graduated from medical school in 2009 and did foundation training and general medicine training in Preston and Chorley afterwards.
He completed his GP training in Wigan.
His special interests are dermatology and women's health.
Dr George Maduabuchi
Dr Maduabuchi worked at a family practice in Gillingham from 2014 and is presently a salaried GP doing eight sessions a week, one of these sessions being taken up with minor surgery.
He also an interest in the practice of the detection and management of patients with atrial fibrillation and has run screening exercises during our flu vaccination clinics.
During training, Dr Maduabuchi did rotations in A&E, medicine, psychiatry and pediatrics with two ITP rotations, one on O&G and one in dermatology.
He has also worked in paediatrics at Darent Valley Hospital, North Tyneside General Hospital and James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
He has been surgical house officer at Aberdeen Royal Informary and has also worked in Niger and Nigeria where he studied at the College of Medicine at the University of Nigeria.
Dr Chris Scales
Dr Scales is the lead GP at our Eaves Lane site and has been since the site opened in April 2023.
Dr Sania Ahmed
Dr Ahmed is based at our Buckshaw surgery.
Dr Usman Tawfik
Dr Tawfik is usually based at The Village Surgery, Lostock Hall.
He has trained as a GP in East Lancashire Hospitals NHS trust and has had the opportunity to work in various specialties such as Emergency Medicine, Trauma & Orthopaedics, ICU, Acute medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology before perusing General Practice.
He takes a keen interest in chronic disease management particularly respiratory illnesses and Diabetes.
He is also passionate about teaching and keeping up-to-date with latest researches and developments in the field of chronic illnesses.
Dr Mahmoud Ahmed
Dr Ahmed, who is based at The Village Surgery, Lostock Hall, graduated from medical school at Cairo University.
Prior to joining GP training in the UK, he had extensive experience working in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia from 2002 to 2020. During this time, he specialised in blood transfusion medicine, acquring a wealth of knowledge in this field.
He began working in the NHS in 2020, and has since undergone training that has allowed him to gain valuable experience in various medical areas, alongside Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and A&E. He has also completed placements in Sexual Health and ENT, which have provided him with a well-rounded foundation as a GP.
Dr Daniel Anderson
Dr Anderson went to St Andrews University in 2010 to study Medicine and graduated with BSc (Hons) in 2013, prior to transfer to Edinburgh University to complete medical training, and he graduated there in 2016.
Dr Anderson then worked in Edinburgh for two years as a Foundation Doctor, covering a variety of specialities, and then acute medicine for six months after this.
He moved to Salford and Trafford to commence and complete his GP training, which included placements at Salford Royal Hospital covering A&E, paediatrics and Orthopaedics.
He currently splits his time, working three days a week providing medical care for elderly patients who are temporarily placed in care homes after discharge from hospital and the other two days working at our Lostock Hall and Buckshaw surgeries.
Dr Shyama Wijesuriya
Dr Wijesuriya works at Buckshaw Surgery and Eaves Lane Surgery.
Graduating with her primary medical degree in 2001, she began her career in her home country of Sri Lanak where she worked in chest medicine, A&E and ICU.
After joining the NHS in 2015, she worked at Royal Preston/Chorley Hospitals and Wigan NHS Trust, she covered various adult medical specialities before joining GP training.
Transitioning to general practice, she underwent training in paediatrics, gynaecology/obstetrics, A&E and care of the elderly, enhancing her ability to deliver comprehensive care.
Dr Wijesuriya has diverse experience and is particularly interested in women's health and adult medicine.
She is committed to providing quality healthcare to patients.

Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as blood pressure measurement, diabetic foot checks and new patient screening. Our healthcare assistants also assist doctors in personal examinations where a chaperone may be required.

Medicine Management
Medicines Management provides specialist support to the clinical team, offering advice and guidance on suitable medication or alternative medication, as well as ensuring the practice is prescribing in line with current guidance from NICE, the CCG and NHSE.

Administration
Administrative staff provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general inquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as requesting repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries.
