Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news and developments relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Our Water Pump in Africa
Back in June of this year, you may recall we published a story on our website explaining that we were taking part in a scheme with Aquaid, who supply water coolers and bottles for all our surgeries.
Under the scheme, for every purchase we make from Aquaid, an automatic donation is made to partner group The Africa Trust which finances the building of a water pump in a part of Africa where clean and fresh drinking water is desperately needed.
We are delighted to have been advised this week that the ‘NM Health Innovations’ water pump has now come into operation.
This ‘Elephant Pump’ is a modified version of an age-old Chinese rope pulley system and these pumps have helped save the lives of many children in Africa.
We are very proud to be able to support such a vital and worthwhile venture and we look forward to continuing to support this project in the future.

Temporary Surgery Closure – Thank You
We would like to thank all our patients for their patience and understanding when our surgeries and phone lines were closed last Tuesday afternoon for staff training.
This was essential training which was delivered to NHS staff nationwide.
It is as always our first priority to offer our patients the best service possible and we hope this training will improve and enhance our service to you in the future.
Carers Rights Information
We know many of our patients are carers and in the week of Cares Rights Day, we would like to make you aware of an online resource which advises not only your rights as a Carer but also the support you can access.
This is especially useful for anyone who has recently become a Carer or who has been caring for someone for a while without support.

Bad Weather
The continuing cold weather has seen snow and ice affect pedestrian areas and car parks close to all our surgeries.
As always, we take every steps to ensure all surfaces are safe but would urge patients to take care at all times and to allow extra time for journeys to appointments at our surgeries if conditions are likely to cause delays.
If there are any particular areas of safety concern in bad weather conditions that you feel we need to deal with better, please email tony.dawber@nhs.net and we will address this.
