Welcome to the latest of our weekly newsletters. We regard it as a priority that all patients at our Adlington, Buckshaw, Croston, Eaves Lane Chorley and Lostock Hall surgeries are kept fully informed of news relevant to them. We hope these updates continue to prove useful.
Mounjaro and Oral HRT
We would like to inform our patients about important emerging information regarding the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) alongside Mounjaro (tirzepatide), a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes and support weight loss.
There is growing evidence suggesting Mounjaro may affect how the body absorbs oral medications, including HRT tablets. This may potentially reduce the effectiveness of HRT in managing menopausal symptoms and protecting long-term health.
For key points on what to be aware of, what you should do and more information, please see the longer article on our website by clicking here.
We are here to support you in managing your health safely and effectively.
If you have any concerns on the above or any other health issue, please book an appointment to discuss and review your medication.
Summer Health Issues
A reminder that hot weather can be dangerous and if you or someone else feels unwell with a high temperature, it may be a sign of heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
Symptoms include a headache, dizziness and confusion, loss of appetite and feeling sick, excessive sweating, cramps in the arms, legs and stomach and extreme thirst.
If someone is showing signs of heat exhaustion, move them to a cool place and get them to lie down and drink plenty of water or rehydration drinks.
Most people should start to feel better within 30 minutes, but if they do not improve, especially if they are having trouble breathing or lose consciousness, call 999 as they will need urgent medical help.
School Holidays
Most schools have now broken up for the school holidays and we hope you are managing to keep the youngsters amused.
Please be assured we will be fully staffed with a normal level of appointments throughout the holiday period and the usual level of service at all times.
Homeless and Ukraine Appeals
We are very grateful for your latest donations to both The Chorley Support for Ukraine Group and The Chorley Homeless Group.
We are continuing to accept donations throughout the summer so if you have any items such as sanitary products, toiletries, shoes, clean duvets, towels and non-perishable food items, you can drop them off at any of our surgery sites during opening hours.
Please mark your bags accordingly if you have a preference as to which appeal you wish them to go to.
